my book ratings

I like murder mysteries! I like books that keep me tuned into what I desire in my life and also books that help guide myself through this complex world. I wondered what the current book ratings actually are when you see a 3/5…. I do follow other peoples ratings more than I do from Amazon or publishers promoting on Facebook. I have been disappointed several times going that route. Goodreads is a great way to get a rating on a book and honest reviews.

5 ratings for books are as follows:

1 Star – Complete waste of time: The book was problematic in terms of writing styles, inaccuracies or written without any strong base. I disliked the book so much that I did not really want to finish the book. I kept reading because I was mildly curious at some points which kept pushing me to finish this book.

2 Stars – Fine but not happy with it: It was more irritating than rewarding. It was problematic but it was less of a struggle to finish like 1-star books. It was overcomplicated and I was lost and the author had to come back to the main thread again and again. I read it just for the sake of reading but I nothing got out of it.

Recommendation begins at 3 stars

3 Stars – Satisfactory, not too bad: This was an average but satisfying read. It was a little rewarding, not too much. But it was not a total waste of time and I enjoyed reading it. The concept of the book was nothing new but the author did the work well in terms of writing style. I might recommend this book.

4 and 5 stars mean the book made an impact on my point of view about something

4 Stars – Loved reading it: It is a really good book. There could be very minor improvements but that is okay. I loved the writing style of the book. The author thoroughly researched the topic before writing. This book made a little bit of impact on my point of view. But It didn’t fundamentally change my point of view about anything so I don’t find myself thinking about this very often.  I can read this again and definitely recommend this book.

5 Stars – Impactful: This is a pretty flawless book and was an awesome read. This book made a major impact on my point of view about something. It fundamentally changed my point of view about something in a huge way. Here the author has done something which I continue to think about and talk about. I strongly recommend this book and I’ll look forward to other works of the author. Example of my 5 stars rated book is Wonder by R.J. Palacio

Below are my 5/5 rated books.

The Desire Map by Danielle Laporte 5/5 star rating *****.

Creating goals with soul. That is this perfunctory author’s research. I just pulled this out again to re-read.

The Man in The Brown Suit – Agatha Christie 5/5 *****

Agatha Christie books are great reads if you like mysteries. This was no average mystery. It was brilliant! I read this book twice I enjoyed it so much. It is a more complex but yet simple process to this murder with the incredibly interesting characters. I never seem to figure out who the murderer is and this time I was so taken aback with the ending. I have read it twice.

The Night Circus – Erin Morganstern – 5/5 *****

This is just a beautiful story of circus and super magical but human characters. I enjoyed it the second time as much as I did the first read.

Style Statement – Live by your Own Design – Danielle Laporte. 5/5*****

It is about your style! Preferred materials and ornaments and clothing and how you like to decorate your home, music you love…all the things that make up your STYLE. It is a very enjoyable way to find one’s style and have a word to describe it!! It is a workbook to with lots of examples of other people’s style statement and how they chose those words to describe them. My style statement is Genuine/Harmony

The Alchemist – Paulo Coelho

Such a simple interesting page turner of a journey about Alchemy. I loved it!

I met Cassie Stocks at her library reading in Swift Current. This book is so good. The characters are all real and you can relate to them so easily. I told Cassie Stocks at the library years ago that I did not like her ending! it was such a surprise and throughout this book, you will find it quite funny as well. Rating 5/5*****

Year of Yes – How to Dance it out, Stand in…. – Shonda Rhimes

Read this book twice. Shonda the megatalented creator of Grey’s Anatomy and Scandal and executive producer of How to Get Away with Murder chronicles how saying yes for one year changed her life – and how it can change yours, too.

rating 5/5*****

Ask Your Guides -Connecting to Your Divine – Sonia Choquette, Ph.D.

I am a very spiritual person. I follow my spirit guides and archangels and this book explains how simple it is to being supported using your six-sensory. I belong to Sonia Choquette’s Good Vibes Tribe.

Rating 5/5*

The Empath’s Survival Guide – Life Strategies for Sensitive People – Judith Orloff, MD

I purchased this book as a resource for my book/novel I am working on. The main character of my book is an Empath. Well, it was surprising how much I related to this book in my life and possibly me being a highly sensitive person. When it comes to feeling the environment and sensing things about a person that you wonder if you should ask them questions and blurt out what you feel is going on, I have been in that situation. I am still re-reading this book and going back to chapters just to understand it thoroughly.

Have a great reading season!
